This is another altered book page. The prompt was "letters". I created an acrylic background and then experimented with typography for each letter in the alphabet.
I'm Becca and I'm an AP artist. I enjoy working with found papers to create a collage and then adding encaustic wax to create mixed media pieces. I have my style but I'm not positive as to what my concentration is. I hope to go to SCAD and pursue a career in graphic design.

This is my weaving painting piece in which I created two water colors and wove them together. I did a water color of grapes in red and in purple. Then I cut the paintings (one in lines and one in circles). Next I wove the circles into the opposite painting. I like this piece a lot more than Ithought I would. I need to add more contrast so that the grapes will stand out more.
This is my portrait piece done with an image transfer. I first took newspaper and using a rubber cement technique and watercolor I tinted it blue. Then I added my image transfer. I then added watercolor drips and sponged watercolor paint on top. Next I dripped encaustic wax and oil patels from the top of the painting. Lastly I added bubble wrap that I painted. I like this piece but
I need to add something to make the image transfer pop.

This piece was made by first using tissue paper, found papers, gesso, and watercolor to create a surface to draw on. I then took a photograph of a shelf in my garage and used this to draw the still life in India ink. I really like the colors of the found papers and the background in general. I know the cans are missing something (white according to Mr. Brandt) but I'm not sure what. any suggestions??
This is my drawing done in India ink with sticks. Yes, I said sticks. I actually had fun with this project and liked the mistakes the stick left on the page. I'm not the best at figure drawing but I think with the exception of the "black halo" around the figure this turned out alright. I felt the drawing gave the emotion anger so I added orange and red to further this emotion.

This is my third summer piece and the prompt is inside of a closet. I decided with this prompt I wanted to make an advertisement. I took a photo of my sister in her closet and went from there. I couldn't get GIMP to work on my computer and we don't have photoshop.... so I was stuck with microsoft word and paint. Obviously this was a set back because I could have done a lot more with those programs, but oh well. I will probably go back and re-do this piece when i have access to one of these programs. I feel like I should have had one text going in another direction other than horizontal but I felt it interfered with the photo. I added the logo I made to try and make up for this. Not my favorite piece. . .

This is my second summer assignment, "dishwasher". I took a break from the monochromatic color scheme. I used painted newspaper for the background and then using a paint pen and sharpie pen I used experimented with typography to create detail on the "dish". I used cardboard to make the rim of the dish and then used encaustic wax to create drips that are supposed to resemble water splashing. I think this piece is missing something but I don't know what... suggestions??(again not the best picture sorry)

Encaustic with Resin
This might be my favorite piece i've done this year. I started out like my other encaustic pieces by creating a collage using colors to match my dried flowers. Then i added th flowers, string, and pastel. The new method i tried with this piece was table top resin. I really like how this piece turned out and i think the resin gives it a finished look.
Elegance
This piece is done in encuastic and it is titled "elegance". I used a collectable shoe that i took a picture of as the focal point. However, i like my pieces with dried flowers better. I wasn't sure how to finish this piece so i added string and the word elegance. I will probably come back to this piece at some point.
