oil pastel project

This was my oil pastel projet done on black paper. I took an art nouveau approach to this piece and again used swirls. I used soft colors and supporting lines as well. It was difficult to shade with pastels without leaving black spots.

Time Warp

This is my foreshortening piece, not my favorite... I used newspaper and oil pastel. Oil pastel wasn't the best choice because the colors are a lot brighter than those on the newspaper. Also it was hard to get detailed with pastels.

Value Study

This was my figure value study piece. As you can see figure drawing isn't really my thing. I decided to practice forshortening for the next project with this one. Not my favorite, but it's alright.

Synthetic Cubism

Thsi was my Synthetic Cubism project. I used five found papers as well as watercolor. To make the flower i just crumpled paper. Thanks to everyone for background ideas!

Analytical Cubism

This was my Analytical Cubism project. I wouldn't say it's exactly cubism but i didn't want to draw a plain still life so i used a broken mirror effect. The flower could use a little bit of work but overall i like the outcome.

Natural Encaustic

This was my encaustic project. I used wax and melted pastels on top of a collage. Then i added string and "natural" objects on top. I really like how my colors turned out. This was one of my favorite projects so far.

RWB

Theses are my experimental encaustic wax pieces. I made collages like below and incorporated string and other objects. Then i covered them with paraffin wax. I also used melted oil pastels for the color. And of course they're tiny...sorry.

RWB

These are collages that i was going to use for encaustic waxing. I didn't get to finishthem but they make decent collages. Sorry it's so small...

RWB

This is a page i did in my research workbook. I used oil pastels and a found image as well as hemp string. Not sure why the picture is so small...

Paper cutting

This was my chinese paper cutting piece. I'm not really happy with the final result but i did like learning a new technique. My patterns are much more clear on my preliminary than in the final. For the background i used a spray paint marbling technique.

This is my polptych. I did something a little different this time and i used a print by carving out a linoleum block. Then i found a technique online for the background and printed on top. I also got to use the printing press :) This might be one of my favorite pieces.

diptych

This is my diptych that i titled reverse. I used acrylic paint. This project was really precise and time consuming but i like the final product.

This is my CD cover. I like how it turned out. I guess things just fit together in the end. Although i wish i could have done more to make it look professsional.
This was another altered book piece. It was supposed to be summer holiday and i did Halloween (oops). Anyways i like it because i used different papers. I guess you could call it experimenting.

This is my piece for the school play, the Wizard of Oz. I drew the middle part with prismacolors and i added the text through microsoft word. I also used Jennifer's amazing air brush to add green to the border. I wish the font was a little bit bigger but overall I'm proud of the piece.

So this is my Typography piece and the word i chose was serenity. In the picture the colors look a lot lighter, but that's okay. I liked using the color triangle for this assignment and i think it turned out well.

This is my third altered book page including an image transfer. I used a silhouette fo a tree as my image. I wasn't sure what to do with my page after that so i just played around with different ideas.

This is the second altered book asssignment. The topic was music theory. I liked the idea of using the treble clef in my design but i felt it needed more so I used words as well. I found the poem on the back of a weezer cd case. I wrote downhill, but oh well.

This was our first class assignment based on the Fibbonacci spiral. My idea for thr project came from a t-shirt i was wearing. I used scrapbooking paper and prismacolors in this piece. It didn't turn out near as well as what I'd hope but then again, what does? I like the colors but i wish i had more time to shade and maybe put something in the empty space. The craftsmenship isn't all that impressive either.

This was the first altered book assignment I did. The assignment was your car in 2030. I decided to use the "going green" theme because i think we're headed in that direction in the future. I enjoy collage so i decided to use it on this assignment. I like the piece overall although i wish i hadn't used the flower stamps because they look a little out of place.

Besides that i like it :)
