This piece was made by first using tissue paper, found papers, gesso, and watercolor to create a surface to draw on. I then took a photograph of a shelf in my garage and used this to draw the still life in India ink. I really like the colors of the found papers and the background in general. I know the cans are missing something (white according to Mr. Brandt) but I'm not sure what. any suggestions??

  1. You made an awesome background, I bet you worked so hard on it. It paid off, even though the cans themselves are "plain" this is a strength (I believe). The background renders them interesting and pleasing. If I HAD to say anything to add, maybe a slight shadow behind the cans? You can tell they are on a shelf but until I saw the (what I'm assuming are) the wall planks, I couldn't tell they were against anything.

  2. Becca! I really like this one. The background works really well with your still life. I like the gold color works really well at showing the "3-dness" of the cans.

  4. I love the piece, especially the background. I think that white might be to drastic, and to harsh for this piece. I really do like this a lot though.
